Patrick Eades is an Australian writer who likes to make people laugh and think, but not necessarily in that order.
His fiction has appeared in Meanjin, X-R-A-Y and The Irish Times. He was runner-up in the 2025 Peter Carey Short Story Award and placed third in the 2026 Moth Short Story Prize.
His debut novel, A Road to Nowhere, a dark comedy about loneliness, ageing and unexpected friendship, will be published in November 2026.
When he isn’t writing, Patrick works as a physiotherapist and part-time stay-at-home dad. He lives in Sydney with his family and a dog that flies daily over the cuckoo’s nest.
